Collaborations

Below are some of the deadly projects I have collaborated with other educators to create, or have contributed my perspective to. One of the most valuable resources we have as teachers is each other, and these projects are perfect examples of how sharing ideas can lead to valuable and rewarding outcomes - and reach a larger audience!

Collaboration Space: Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Resources

Collaboration Space is a Facebook Group created by Caitlin and myself in 2020, and is a space where Australian educators can share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander classroom resources. There are now over 2500 members! To join the private group, please click the link below and answer the three entry questions.

Listen Learn Act
Listen. Learn. Act. Classroom Resource Cards

This resource is a set of 16 cards with suggested lesson activities to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories. These topics and suggested activities provide a starting point for educators and students which teachers can then use as a springboard into deeper learning. To download this free resource, click the link below. You will need to sign up for an account (also free) on the Teachers Pay Teachers website before downloading - or simply sign in to your existing account.

Acknowledgement of Country - Teach Starter Blog

Read this Teach Starter blog for advice (and examples) of how to write an Acknowledgement of Country with your class. I was interviewed for the piece and shared an example of how I began the process with students in Year 1.

Educator Yarns Book

Educator Yarns is a collection of relatable stories from educators in Australia. Each contributor (myself included) provide unique perspectives about the processes and dispositions required to respectfully, meaningfully and with integrity embed First Nations perspectives, experiences and cultures in Australian education settings. You can find my yarn on page 95!

First Nations Bedtime Stories 2022

First Nations Bedtime Stories is an annual week of storytelling. Every year Common Ground works with different First Nations creatives and communities to film five Dreaming stories. The films are shared online, and people come together to watch them over five days. Common Ground works with teachers to develop comprehensive educational resources to accompany the films. The resources help educators and parents to guide safe and informative learning with the young people. In 2022, First Nations Bedtime Stories shared 5 Wiradjuri Dreaming stories. I collaborated with Steph from Roots for the Future to create the education resources. To access the resources, sign up for free using the link below.

First Nations Bedtime Stories is an annual week of storytelling. Every year Common Ground works with different First Nations creatives and communities to film five Dreaming stories. The films are shared online, and people come together to watch them over five days. Common Ground works with teachers to develop comprehensive educational resources to accompany the films. The resources help educators and parents to guide safe and informative learning with the young people. In 2023, First Nations Bedtime Stories shared 5 Noongar stories. I created the educational resources to support these stories - with the support of a deadly teacher/parent working group. To access the resources, sign up for free using the link below.

For Our Elders NAIDOC Week Resource 2023

In celebration fo the 2023 NAIDOC theme – For Our Elders – Common Ground and I created a free educational resource about Elders. The resource is designed to give students opportunities to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and community leaders from around Australia, as well as those within your local community. Linking to the F-6 (Primary School) Australian Curriculum, the resource can be used at any time of year, in 2023 and beyond. We have provided examples for how early childhood educators and secondary teachers can modify the activities in this resource to suit younger and older students.
