Yiradhu marang! Good day, hello! My name is Jordyn and I am a proud Wiradjuri, Ngemba and Paakantji woman and primary teacher. I created the Instagram account @learning_to_ngangaanha in 2019 with the aim to support other teachers to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, cultures, languages, beliefs and protocols. Ngangaanha is a Wiradjuri word meaning to "look after" or to "care for". Learning to Ngangaanha (look after) is a reminder to continue protecting First Nations knowledge, and this includes ensuring that it is passed on to future generations.

I would like to acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of lands, waterways and skies across what is now known as Australia. This continent has been home to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for thousands of years. I respect the cultures, languages, traditions and beliefs of the many different nation groups of First Nations people, and am thankful for the ancient knowledge of this land that has been passed on to me. Today, I pay respects to Elders past and present, and thank them for their strength, resilience and determination to keep our cultures and identities strong.
